Key Aims of the Task Force
Task Force Launch
Conducting a comprehensive analysis of blockchain and cryptocurrency expansion and their effects on sectors such as finance, healthcare, and supply chain management.
Economic & Regulatory Impact
Assessing the economic and regulatory impact of blockchain for Maryland, with attention to state revenues, energy use, and opportunities for economic empowerment and digital inclusion.
Policy Recommendations
Developing policy recommendations focused on consumer protection, financial stability, and fostering an equitable tech landscape in the state.
Legislative Reporting
Reporting findings to the Governor and Maryland General Assembly by October 1, 2026, providing a roadmap for responsible innovation and legislative action.

The launch of the Task Force, established on July 30th, 2025, is comprised of legislators, state officials, and key experts from technology, finance, academia, and community-based organizations, with active leadership from the Maryland Blockchain Association and Maryland Tech Council.
