Education Working Group

The Education Working Group of the Maryland Task Force on Blockchain & Innovative Technology is dedicated to making Maryland a leader in blockchain education and workforce development.

Our Focus

Workforce Readiness and Skill Development

The Education Working Group is committed to equipping Maryland's students, educators, and professionals with the skills needed for the rapidly evolving blockchain and digital asset job market. This includes designing and supporting training programs that prepare individuals for in-demand careers in technology, finance, cybersecurity, and related sectors.

Innovative Curriculum and Instruction

The group will be collaborating with colleges, universities, and industry leaders to offer existing curricula and develop curricula that introduce blockchain concepts, practical applications, and real-world problem-solving to classrooms. These initiatives encourage hands-on learning experiences such as project-based courses, blockchain labs, and mentorship from industry professionals.

Equity and Broad Access

A foundational goal of the Education Working Group is to ensure that blockchain education is accessible to all Marylanders. Special attention will be given to reaching underserved populations, empowering diverse communities, and removing barriers to technology education so that everyone has a fair opportunity to benefit from emerging career pathways.

Research Collaboration and Advancement

The working group fosters partnerships between educational institutions, researchers, and technology companies. By encouraging shared research projects, pilot programs, and publication of best practices, it ensures that Maryland remains on the cutting edge of blockchain innovation in education.

Community Literacy and Awareness

Raising public awareness and understanding is central to the group's vision. Through organizing workshops, hackathons, and outreach campaigns, the Education Working Group helps students, families, and educators become familiar and comfortable with blockchain technology, opening doors to new educational and economic opportunities.

Three Key Goals

Increase Public Awareness and Understanding

Create accessible educational resources and programs to help Maryland residents, business owners, and government officials better understand blockchain, cryptocurrency, and innovative technologies. This includes hosting seminars, developing online courses, and distributing educational materials that address both technical concepts and regulatory frameworks.

Promote Responsible Innovation and Best Practices

Develop workshops and guidelines that highlight responsible and ethical use of blockchain technologies, supporting clarity on compliance, consumer protection, and data privacy. Engage stakeholders through collaborative discussions that foster trust and encourage industry to align with evolving legal standards and best practices.

Bridge the Gap Between Policy, Business, and Education

Facilitate communication and active partnerships among academic institutions, policymakers, and private sector leaders to ensure Maryland remains a leader in blockchain innovation. This includes supporting curriculum development, creating internship pipelines, and organizing events that unite students and professionals around real-world solutions and new opportunities in the state.
